Never Judge Someone’s Life By What You See — Use Your Heart

Have you ever met someone who, on the surface, seems like a complete mess? Someone whose actions make you shake your head — always causing trouble, never following the rules, making life harder for others. People around them often think, “This person’s hopeless.” Honestly, I used to think like that too — until life taught me a lesson I’ll never forget: I was judging too quickly.

One day, I discovered a different side of a friend of mine who I thought was “trouble.” Turns out, he was incredibly respectful and kind to his parents. And whenever someone in our circle was struggling, he was the first one to show up and help — no matter who they were, never judging anyone’s background or story. His empathy was on another level, even compared to those who looked “good” on the outside.

That moment made me realize something important: people are more than what they show on the surface. No matter how close you are to someone, you’ll never fully know who they are. Everyone has parts of themselves they hide from the world. Some people even hide parts of themselves from their own hearts.

I remembered a quote I once read in a book:

“If someone insults or judges you, let them. Our relationship with other people is horizontal, but our relationship with God is vertical. Judging others to prove that you’re better is pointless. It’s like rotten meat — the more you point it out, the worse it smells.”

That quote changed the way I saw the world. Why do people love to judge others? Often, it’s because they want to feel superior. But really — who are we to define someone’s worth? We don’t know what they’re fighting for, what pain they’re carrying, or the reason they’ve become who they are today.

And here’s one thing I’ll always remember:

Never judge someone’s life based only on what you see with your eyes. Use your heart. Your eyes will only show you the surface, but your heart — if you let it — will help you understand the whole story.

Since that day, I’ve learned to pause before making assumptions. Not everything we see should be quickly labeled. Not every flaw we notice is a reflection of who that person truly is.

Because life isn’t just good or bad. Every one of us carries both light and darkness inside.

And the best kind of person… is the one who learns to understand before they judge.
